Essex batsman Tom Westley has been left out of England's Ashes squad for their upcoming tour of Australia.
The 28-year-old was a key member of his county side, as they recorded a first County Championship Division One title in 25 years this season.
But he averaged just 24 for England in five tests this summer, having played at number three.
Hampshire’s James Vince has been given the nod instead of the Essex man, who had suffered a thumb injury in this week’s final match of the season against Yorkshire.
However, it is not thought this is the reason Westley has not been selected.
