BILLERICAY Town climbed to second in the Isthmian Premier League with a 2-0 win at opening day conquerors Kingstonian.
Billy Bricknell and Louie Theophanous got the goals that handed Town a 12th league win in 14 outings.
Nick Wheeler curled wide with the first chance of the evening, with Dean Inman appealing for a penalty shortly afterwards â although the referee was unmoved.
Former Billericay man Tom Derry was within inches of opening the scoring for the Kâs, who were looking to complete the double over the league favourites.
Headers at each end of the pitch were saved, and the half ended goalless.
But three minutes into the second half Town had their breakthrough. A penalty was awarded and Bricknell made no mistake from 12 yards.
And his strike partner doubled the lead 20 minutes later. Shortly after having a free-kick saved Theophanous struck home from the edge of the penalty area.
Alan Julian was forced into a late save but Town were relatively comfortable come the final whistle.
