SOUTHEND United's under 23 team were beaten 2-0 at Bournemouth this afternoon.
Mikael Ndjoli scored both goals for the Cherries.
And Blues coach Kevin Maher was left ruing his side's form in front of goal.
"I'm disappointed to have been beaten because we certainly had the chances to get something from the game," said Maher.
"We had plenty of pressure and the balls into the box but we just didn't have that final bit of quality we needed and we ended up getting caught on the break.
Southend United: Bishop, Bwomono, Matsuzaka, Coutts, Kyprianou, Gard, Pianim, Bedford, Cotton, Ba, Walker
