THE MATCH: Canvey Island will be relieved to be back on home turf as they attempt to get their play-off hopes back on track.

The Gulls have lost their last five matches on the road but triumphed in each of their last four home clashes.

A frustrating postponement at Brentwood Town means the Gulls still have five games to negotiate.

They welcome Hertford Town bidding to extend that sequence and further strengthen their top six placing ahead of the final four games of the regulation season.

With the two top almost out of sight, a home semi-final in the play-offs is the next priority.

Hertford remain mid-table and despite losing their last two matches they have won three of the last four away games.

Canvey cannot afford anything but a victory ahead of the final run-in.

THE INSIGHT: “We have five games to go and a top six place is ours to throw away,” said Gulls chief Danny Heale. “We are well placed now, even though results didn’t particularly go our way on Tuesday, and we have the points on the board.

“We need to take it easy and we can achieve what we want to achieve.

“I went to watch Hertford on Tuesday where they lost 3-0 against Aveley, although that flattered them in my opinion.

“Hertford will be bang up for it and we will be ready to hopefully continue our good home form. We feel with the run of games we have coming we can achieve our goals.

“We will prepare the boys right and give it our best shot.”

THE TEAM NEWS: Canvey are expected to be fully fit.
