SOUTHEND United fans are being urged to show off their knowledge in a quiz to raise funds for Havens Hospices next week.

The event will take place in the Chalkwell Park Rooms on Thursday May 17.

And joint organiser Dave Goody is hoping for as many Blues fans as possible to come along.

“We did a similar event a couple of years ago and hope this one will be just as successful,” said Goody who runs the @sufc_history account on Twitter alongside Peter Miles.

“It was packed that night and I think everyone really enjoyed a quiz which focused on Southend United as the club are obviously a real passion for so many supporters.

“It’s all being done to raise money for Havens Hospices too so it promises to be another really enjoyable evening for a good cause.

“We hope to see as many Blues fans there as possible and urge anyone interested to book as soon as possible.”

The quiz - which is sponsored by SP Financial Management and MSPFX - will focus on a variety of topics surrounding the Shrimpers.

Southend striking legend David Crown will be the evening’s star guest while BBC Essex commentator Nick Alliker will be asking the questions.

Teams of eight can enter the quiz for £90 while a half-team of four will cost £48.

Included in the price is a football dinner of pie and chips while a bar will also be open on the night.

Raffle prizes include a Blues’ mascot package, next season’s shirt, signed Freddy Eastwood, Steve Tilson, Adam Barrett, Kevin Maher and Mark Gower memorabilia, a 12th man package, a meal in the captain’s suite at a game next season plus a signed Match of the Day script.

Doors will open at 7pm for a 7.45pm kick off.
