But neither of them will now be at Roots Hall next season.

Timlin joined the Shrimpers on a permanent basis in January 2012 after two previous spells on loan and made 262 appearances for the club.

The 33-year-old midfielder played a key part in Blues’ promotion from League Two in 2015 and will be best remembered for scoring in the play-off semi-final second leg against Stevenage just days after suffering a sickening clash of heads.

Experienced striker Fortune has spent the last two seasons with the Shrimpers after a successful trial period.

The 36-year-old scored 10 goals in 76 games for Blues.
