GRAHAM Paton will be watching Southend United for free this season after winning an Echosport competition.

Paton is set to receive two free season cards for the Family Enclosure at Roots Hall.

And Paton could not believe his luck after being picked out.

“I don’t think I’ve ever won anything in my life before so I couldn’t believe it when I found out I had won,” said Paton, who lives in Rochford.

“I’m a big Southend fan so it’s great to have won and I think this should be a good season coming up too so that makes it doubly exciting.

“We did really well after Chris Powell came in last season and moved up the table to finish 10th after a really bad run before that so hopefully we can keep the good form going.

“We’ve also made what appear to be some good signings and we’ve made them early too, which is something we haven’t done in the past so it all looks really positive.

“I can’t wait for the games to begin.”

Paton, who is pictured with his two children - son Joe, aged 12, and seven-year-old daughter Sophie - won the competition Echosport ran in conjunction with Southend United.
