BOTTOM of the table Southend & EMT suffered a 45 run defeat against Chingford in the Shepherd Neame Essex League Premier Division.
Southend were bowled out for 219 in reply to Chingford’s 264.
And that left Southend skipper Tom Phillippe a frustrated figure at the close of play.
“It was another disappointing weekend for us,” he said.
“Chingford won the toss and elected to bat and we started well, having them 1/2.
“However, we let them back into the game and they batted well to get 264, which wasn’t above par.
“But against a weak Chingford bowling attack our batting let us down again and poor shots from us caused us to crumble again.”
Arafat Bhuiyan was the pick of Southend’s bowlers, with 4-44, while Mohammed Rizvi top scored with the bat, hitting 40 not out.
