LAKESIDE Hammers have paid tribute to one of their former riders following his death.
Tomasz Jedrzejak, who was 39, was discovered just two days after impressing in a race in the Polish second division.
It is reported that Jedrzejak, who was the 2012 Polish champion, took his own life.
A statement on the Hammers website said: “We are very sad to hear of the passing of one of our former Hammers Tomasz Jedrzejak.
“All at The Lakeside Hammers send our thoughts and condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at this sad time. R.I.P Tomasz.”
Hammers co-promoter Jon Cook said: “This is hugely upsetting news. Tomasz was such a nice man and a truly brilliant speedway rider on his day. It’s dreadfully sad news.”
