WESTCLIFF host Dorking on the opening day of the London & SE Premier Division season tomorrow.

Westcliff finished sixth in the standings last term and fly-half Jack Jones is hoping for another impressive campaign.

“Our aim every season is to surpass the previous one,” said Jones.

“It won’t be easy, especially with the teams that have both come up and down into the league.

“But we will just take it game by game and continue to enjoy every time we go out on a Saturday afternoon with our mates.”

Westcliff have lost skipper Harry Branch and talented youngster Jake Spivey since the end of last season.

But Jones believes Westcliff have still enjoyed a good pre-season.

“It has been a productive pre-season,” said Jones.

“The boys have taken a well earned rest and now shaken off those cobwebs to get back to where we left off.”

However, Jones is expecting a tough test against Dorking, who Westcliff beat at home on the final day of last season.

“Dorking are always a good outfit,” said Jones.

“They have some big guys who run hard and they will be looking for revenge after last season. The key for us is to focus on our game and look to build on a successful pre-season.”
