ZOE Rushen admitted Billericay Town Ladies’ thumping win over Maidenhead Ladies allowed the attacking players to gain confidence.

Kim Coster’s Billericay were 10-1 winners in the FA Women’s National League Cup tie played at the AGP Arena.

Karissa Rodney and Sam Pittuck both claimed hat-tricks, while Jay Blackie registered a brace and Rushen and substitute Hayley Piggott also got their names on the scoresheet.

And Rushen, who joined the Women’s National League South East Division One frontrunners in the summer, was pleased with the performance.

Rushen said: “The game was great in many ways.

“We created lots of opportunities for players to score and gain confidence.

“But we know it’s going to be tougher in league games, so that’s what our focus will be on in training this week.”

Rushen has made a positive impact since making the move from C&K Basildon Ladies during the close season.

The ex-C&K Basildon captain has been joined at the AGP Arena by a number of former team-mates at the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division club.

And Rushen insists she has settled in well at Billericay.

“Life at Billericay has been so far so good,” added Rushen.

“A lot has happened in a short space of time but everyone seems to be embracing the change and adapting well.

“Having a few C&K Basildon team-mates joining at the same time has been great for team spirit and knowing a few Billericay girls already has been comforting.

“I’m excited to move forward with this club and a great set of girls.”
