COUNTBACK was needed to decide the winners of the coveted Club Captain and Club Professional Challenge 4BBB Shield at Ballards Gore Golf Club.

The pairing of Fred Brand and Martin Cork, along with Kevin Scanlan and Andy Searles, finished with 43 points.

But, after countback had been taken into consideration, Brand and Cork were announced as the winners.

As a result, Scanlan and Searles were left to settle for the runners-up slot.

Countback was also required in the Ladies Chalice Cup after a three-way tie for top spot.

However, Hastings was triumphant, while Mackay and Bennett were handed second and third place respectively.

Countback was becoming a regular occurrence at Ballards Gore, as it was also needed to determine the champion of the Ladies Trauts Trophy event.

Pat Rogers and Marian Carter accumulated an impressive 32 points apiece, but Rodgers was victorious and Carter claimed the runners-up position.

Hilary Mackay completed the top three after registering a fine total of 30 points.

However, there was a clear winner in the Midweek Stableford.

Simon Swain was triumphant after notching 36 points.

Stephen Toomey was two points behind, having recorded 34, in second place.
