BILLY Knott admitted he was disappointed not to lead Concord Rangers to all three points despite netting a last minute equaliser against Woking.

Greg Luer gave the National League South table-toppers a first half lead after grabbing his first goal in Woking colours.

But the visitors were reduced to 10 men with 15 minutes remaining as Duane Ofori-Acheampong was shown two yellow cards in quick succession and Knott lashed home as the clash ticked into the 90th minute to allow the Beach Boys to claim a share of the spoils.

But Knott felt Concord were unfortunate not to bounce back to winning ways at the Aspect Arena.

The Beach Boys captain said: “I said to the boys before the game that I was going to score.

“In previous games I had been playing a bit deeper and not got forward as much, but I had the licence to go forward.

“I had a few chances that would wouldn’t sit for me, but I knew it was coming.

“We piled on the pressure in the second half and we’re disappointed that we haven’t got the three points but, at the end of the day, we’ll take a point against the team that is top of the league and flying.

“It’s pleasing that we put in 110 per cent until the end and took them to the wire.”

Concord went into the clash looking to bounce back from heavy defeats to Welling United and Chippenham Town.

But the hosts fell behind when Luer found the back of the net following some fine wing-play from former Billericay Town man Nicky Wheeler.

However, Concord were dominant after the break and they were rewarded when Knott converted against his former club in the dying moments, much to the delight of player-manager Sammy Moore.

Moore said: “The second half performance was exactly what I expect of my team.

“Woking didn’t get out of their half for 45 minutes because we kept piling on the pressure and the goal was coming regardless of the red card.

“It was a tremendous second half performance and we got exactly what we deserved.

“We could have nicked it at the end, but I’m a proud manager and delighted with the players’ efforts.

“I am a little disappointed we didn’t win, but I would have taken a point before the game.”
