It is now eight days since I sat across from Glenn Tamplin at his kitchen table and he told me he would be selling Billericay Town.

Looking at him, it appeared clear that a line had been crossed and there was little or no chance of him changing his mind.

He said on more than one occasion that he was suffering with ‘cold sweats’ because of the impact a police interview in front of his family had had on him the day before.

In the following days, I spoke to many people associated with local clubs about the decision, with many admitting they felt it would be only a matter of days before Tamplin changed his mind.

Having conducted the interview and seen first hand Tamplin’s demeanour, I admitted I felt he would step aside. It is not the first time I’ve been wrong!

On Thursday I was told by Tamplin he would be leading the team at Hemel Hempstead and on Saturday, six days after the interview, he announced his intention not to sell unless a buyer ‘with the same ambition’ came in.

It is now my understanding that Tamplin will not sell the club and will remain at the helm.

He has finally accepted the blame for sacking Harry Wheeler - a decision that will rankle the entire fanbase - although the circumstances surrounding the dismissal remain unclear.

Whatever happens from this point onwards, transparency must take a front seat.
