BASILDON began life in London Two North East with a 36-20 defeat at home to Woodford.
Basildon are looking to build on winning London Three Essex last season and first team manager Mark Farrell was frustrated by the opening day setback.
“We only have ourselves to blame,” said Farrell.
“Through excessive indiscipline and poor game management we allowed Woodford to take this game rather than win it.
“But lessons have been learned. Our squad are dedicated and more than able. We will work hard in training this week to put things right and, with more players becoming available, we will quickly move on from this poor start.”
Daniel Rowley, Bradley Long and Sam Ridley all scored tries for Basildon at the weekend with the remainder of the points coming from the boot of Ridley.
