ALASTAIR Cook brought the curtain down on his England Test career by claiming victory against India.
The Essex opening batsman played a key role as he hit a century and half-century in the fifth Test match.
England won by 118 runs at the Oval to wrap a 4-1 series victory over India.
And Cook, who will remain with Essex in the years to come, was emotional at the climax of his Test career.
Cook, at the presentation after the match, said: “I’ll remember all the highs with this team and other teams I’ve played in. But I’ll also remember the tough times - today showed just how tough Test cricket is.
“I’m privileged to have worn the cap for as long as I have.
“The reception from the crowd all week was amazing. Somewhere it was written.”
