BOWERS & Pitsea enjoyed a perfect day as they returned to a revamped Len Salmon Stadium for the first time.

Rob Small's side claimed a 4-0 win over Felixstowe & Walton United, with David Knight hitting a hat-trick.

Knight broke the deadlock early on, following Quentin Monville's cutback.

The frontman, who came into the Isthmian North clash having scored four goals in the 5-0 victory over Takeley in the FA Cup last time out, doubled the hosts' lead by finding the bottom corner.

Joseph Francis struck the post from a Felixstowe free-kick, but Knight completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after the interval.

Francis struck both posts from the penalty spot after Jamie Dicks had been penalised, but Lewis Manor rounded off the scoring with a close range header.

Meanwhile, Basildon United moved to the top of the table as they registered a 1-0 triumph over Soham Town Rangers.

The Bees' winner came from Jack Adlington-Pile six minutes after the break.

And Marc Harrison's side were able to keep their clean sheet intact and continue their unbeaten start to the Isthmian North campaign following their promotion from the Essex Senior League.

Basildon were able to reach the summit after Canvey Island sealed a 2-1 win over previous league leaders Maldon & Tiptree.

Jordan Cox thought he had grabbed the opener for the Gulls, but his effort was ruled out for offside after being put through on goal by Frankie Merrifield.

However, Josh Hutchinson gave Canvey the lead on the half hour mark.

Former Canvey man George Sykes came off the bench for the Jammers at half-time and Maldon & Tiptree levelled matters from the penalty spot through Decarrey Sheriff.

It looked as though both sides would have to settle for a point, but Hutchinson completed his brace four minutes before full-time to hand the visitors all three points.

There was late heartbreak for Great Wakering Rovers as a Jason Ring own goal resulted in Bury Town running out 3-2 winners.

Wakering got off to the worst possible start as Ollie Hughes found the back of the net inside the first minute.

But Wakering were able to go in at half-time level as Stephen Butterworth converted a 45th minute penalty.

Tanner Call restored Bury's advantage, but Garry Kimble's side hit back again as Billy Johnson equalised.

However, Ring's 88th minute own goal saw Wakering leave Suffolk empty-handed.
