EAST Thurrock United suffered their eighth defeat of the campaign as Welling United ran out 2-0 winners.

Brendan Kiernan and Jack Jebb grabbed the goals to allow the Wings to secure all three points.

Rocks made a bright start as they hit the woodwork inside the opening two minutes but Welling grabbed the opener with 16 minutes on the clock as Kiernan was found unmarked from a Jebb corner.

Having been the provider for the first goal, Jebb was then able to get his name on the scoresheet after finding the back of the net with a strike from the edge of the penalty area just before the half hour mark.

The hosts could have been out of sight before half-time as the Wings were awarded a penalty, but Bradley Goldberg wasted the opportunity from the spot.

Daniel Wilks brilliantly tipped over a curling effort from Ashley Miller, but Rocks goalkeeper Jack Giddens was also kept busy.

Danny Mills and Kiernan hit the post for Welling but two goals proved to be enough.
