BASILDON United have moved to the top of the Isthmian North standings after keeping their 100 per cent winning record intact with a 1-0 victory over Soham Town Rangers.
The Bees have made an impressive start to the campaign, following their promotion from the Essex Senior League thanks to a last minute victory in their final clash of last season.
And Basildon were able to bounce back from their disappointing FA Cup exit at the hands of Peterborough Sports last time out by making it four Isthmian North wins from four.
Reece Price-Placid passed up two chances early on, while Darren Phillips was thwarted by Soham goalkeeper Josh Pope.
Connor Mead was unlucky not to break the deadlock as his volley, from an Eljay Worrell corner, crashed against the crossbar.
But the decisive moment came six minutes after the interval as Jack Adlington-Pile fired home.
Bees goalkeeper Connor Wheatley made a fine save to deny Soham striker Sam Mulready and the hosts were able to preserve their clean sheet.
Basildon United: Wheatley, Mead, Worrell, Kendall, Turpin, Phillips, Asamoah (Bowers 76), Quadri (Nelson 85), Adlington-Pile, Spooner, Price-Placid (Moses 79)
