SOUTHEND Saxons will be bidding for their first win of the season when they host Amersham & Chiltern in London One North tomorrow.

Southend have kicked off the campaign with three successive defeats.

But skipper Ian Morrison will not be adding extra importance to this weekend’s encounter.

“The game is as important as any other match,” said Morrison.

“Each team will experience a difficult moment during a season and we are unfortunate that it has happened at the start.

“But our training and skill sets within make us confident we will experience more positives as the season progresses.”

Southend - who are currently 12th in the standings - lost 45-28 at Old Haberdashers last weekend.

And Morrison remains disappointed by the defeat.

“We were ultimately left with a feeling of frustration,” said Morrison.

“Due to our poor start we were unable to take advantage of how impressive our attack was.

“Four tries against most teams should see us winning but that wasn’t the case on Saturday.”

Southend also started slowly in their 50-17 defeat to Rochford Hundred and Morrison is now demanding a more complete performance from the team.

“Our start has been one of inconsistency,” said Morrison.

“I think we are yet to see a complete 80 minute performance from us as a team.

“In the moments we’ve had during games we’ve looked very good and exciting in attack but this clearly must be sustained.”

Amersham head into the game sitting 10th in the table with one win in three games.
