DARREN Manning expects Hullbridge Sports to continue their excellent start to the season in the Essex Senior Cup - despite planning widespread changes.

Sports are top of the Essex Senior League and defeated tonight’s opponents Takeley in a table-topping battle on Saturday.

Manning says the 1-0 win took a lot out of his side and he will be making changes for the second round tie.

“We are making a lot of changes,” said the manager. “We want to give some of the boys a run out but we are doing very well at the moment.

“The boys are all pulling in the same direction but I maintain we can make a lot of changes and win the game.

“After the shift we put in on Saturday, some players do need a rest and the league is our priority.”

And Manning added he was confident his team could challenge if they stay focused.

“If you don’t start the season wanting to get promoted you are doing it for the wrong reasons,” he said. “We have had a good start but we need to remain focused.”
