SAMMY Knott says playing with his brother Billy will be a ‘dream come true’ after signing for Concord Rangers.

The 22-year-old left-back signed for the Beach Boys on Monday, having been released by East Thurrock United in August.

Knott, who has been beset by injury problems over the last two years, has been training with his childhood club for the past month.

And he says he is now looking to make his stamp on the first team, alongside club captain and brother Billy.

“I have always dreamed of playing alongside him,” said Sammy. “Different circumstances have come together and it means we can now play alongside each other.

“Bill has obviously played at a great level before but I am so grateful to get this chance.

“This is my third week back in full training at Concord and all being well I am available for selection against Truro City this weekend.”

Knott came through the Beach Boys’ youth section, joining at the age of six and making his first team debut aged 16.

Having departed following Concord’s promotion to the National League South, Knott played for a number of Essex-based clubs before injury struck in 2016.

A succession of knee injuries was followed up by a fresh setback at the start of this term.

And while Knott said being released by Rocks ‘wasn’t a shock’, he was delighted when Concord came in for him.

“Concord came in straight away even though I knew I would be a few months away from fitness,” he said. “I still worked with my physiotherapist Ross and was regularly in the gym. Once I was ready to train it was easy to go to Concord.

“I knew a lot of people there and in honesty I never expected it to amount to more than training as I know how strong the squad is.

“After being there a few weeks I was starting to look at clubs and I spoke to some but I had been doing well at Concord.

“I spoke to (manager) Sammy (Moore) and I am buzzing to sign. I have always looked out for their results and it is nice of them to help me.

“They helped me when I needed it and it has paid off. This place is not unfamiliar to me and I just want to help the team as much as I can.”
