GEORGIA Box believes competition for places in the Billericay Town Ladies side has resulted in her improving her game.

Billericay boss Kim Coster added a number of new faces to last season’s promotion-winning squad during the summer.

And Box, who joined Billericay midway through last term, is thriving after being pushed for a place in the starting line-up by her new team-mates.

The striker said: “I’ve just started to get some goals and we have made a brilliant start to the season.

“We have got a lot of new girls in the squad now and I think it has provided healthy competition for places.

“I think I have upped my game because of that and hopefully I will continue to impress.”

A brace in the entertaining 4-4 draw with Actonians Ladies has seen Box take her tally to three goals already this season.

But Box was disappointed to see Billericay’s five match winning run in FA Women’s National League South East Division One come to an end.

Box added: “I have got three goals now and, with the new girls, the squad is looking really strong.

“All of us were a bit disappointed we didn’t get the win against Actonians Ladies because that would have taken us three points clear of Crawley Wasps Ladies at the top of the table.

“We feel as though we should have won, but hopefully we can bounce back to winning ways tonight.”

Billericay make the long trip to Suffolk, where they will face Ipswich Town Ladies tonight.

And having tasted promotion in her first campaign at the AGP Arena, Box is eager to clinch more silverware come the end of the season.

“I joined Billericay midway through last season and it was great because I was part of the side that won promotion,” confirmed Box.

“I had spent 10 years at Colchester Town Ladies, where I had worked my way into the club’s top five goalscorers of all-time, so I thought it was time for a change.

“It’s been really positive so far at Billericay and hopefully I can continue to get among the goals.

“I pride myself on assists as well, so I’m aiming to keep providing chances for my team-mates as well.”

Away from the football pitch, Box is regularly in the studio recording music.

“I have a pretty hectic life at the moment,” admitted Box.

“But I’m lucky and I love it because I’m able to sing and play football, which are two of my biggest passions.”
