SOUTHEND Saxons will be aiming for an improved display when they head to HAC in London One North tomorrow.

Southend were seen off 33-29 at Old Priorians on Saturday.

And scrum half Harry Branch insists the team have been working hard in training to ensure a return to winning ways this weekend.

“After looking at the video at training on Tuesday we pointed out our specific sections that we want to work on and improve,” said Branch.

“Training has been at a very high level and everyone within the 40 plus squad has been putting their hands up for selection this weekend.

“I’m looking forward to the game and seeing the reaction in training put into force this weekend.”

Southend head into the game having been beaten four times in their opening five games.

And Branch remains disappointed by last weekend’s defeat.

“It was a frustrating one for us all,” said Branch.

“We made an average team look impressive in the first 20 minutes.

“But the positive from the weekend is that all the small errors we made are very fixable and we also showed that when we play to our potential teams struggle against us.

“I would also like to thank everyone who travelled down to watch us because they made a massive difference in helping us push for the two bonus points.”

But Branch wants greater reward tomorrow.

“We’re focusing on ourselves and making sure that we deliver the performance that is required for us to get the result,” he added.
