SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell believes his side's formation will not decide the outcome of tomorrow's game with Oxford United.

Powell switched to 4-4-2 from 5-3-2 to inspire a second half fight back at Burton Albion on Tuesday night.

And he must now decide what system to start with against the U's at Roots Hall.

“Part of my thinking with that (the formation) will be looking at Oxford and what suits us and also what gives us the best chance of winning the game,” said Powell.

“But everyone knows that it’s not what’s going to win you the game because it will be the 11 players regardless of the formation.

“It’s about how they use their abilities, their skills and concentration.

“If they do that well and make good decisions with and without the ball regardless of the formation we will do well.

“But it is something we will have to decide on.”

An online Echosport poll, which attracted 552 votes, saw 68 per cent of fans favour the 3-5-2 formation.
