SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell was keen to remain upbeat following his side’s drab 0-0 draw against Oxford United at Roots Hall.
The Shrimpers had to settle for a share of the spoils against the bottom of the table U’s.
But Powell was pleased to keep Blues’ unbeaten run going.
“It’s seven points out of nine and 10 points out of 12 and that’s what I’ve just told the players,” said Powell.
“In the first half I thought we were the team on the front foot but the second half was a really scrappy affair and a point is probably about right.
“We’ve got to be positive because we haven’t lost but it’s not a game which is going to live long in the memory. “
And Powell felt Blues were affected by a first half injury suffered to defender John White which led to an early change in formation.
“Our game plan went out the window with Johnny White going off,” said Powell.
“It’s his hamstring but we don’t know how serious it is yet."
