MOSES Emmanuel was delighted to claim his first Billericay Town hat-trick as Dean Brennan’s side recorded a comprehensive FA Cup third qualifying round win.

The National League South table-toppers secured a 9-1 victory over Whitehawk.

And Emmanuel, who scored all three of his goals in the space of just 18 minutes, was pleased to make a telling contribution.

Emmanuel said: “I’m really happy to have scored a hat-trick.

“I could have bagged a hat-trick in the last round against Burnham, so I’m pleased I’ve got it now.

“Winning 9-1 is fantastic and it’s definitely the biggest win I’ve been involved in.

“Whitehawk are only one division below us, so winning by such a big margin further shows how strong our squad is.

“We already knew we were a very strong side and we expect to win every game.”

Town raced into a second minute lead through Joe Kizzi before Jake Robinson quickly doubled the hosts’ advantage by chipping Hawks goalkeeper Melvin Minter.

Ademola Shokunbi, who joined on loan from Reading just 24 hours before the clash, got in on the act by grabbing a debut goal with just 14 minutes played at the AGP Arena.

Sam Deering slotted home and Billericay were able to hit Whitehawk for six in the opening 45 minutes as Emmanuel grabbed his first two goals.

Emmanuel completed his hat-trick eight minutes after the interval.

Robinson hit his second goal of the afternoon, before Alfie Potter became the sixth different goalscorer as Billericay racked up their ninth goal with 18 minutes still to play.

The 609 fans in attendance did see a 10th goal, but it went the way of the visitors as former Southend United striker Jason Williams scored a late consolation.

And having claimed the matchball, Emmanuel is now eager to nail down a regular place in Brennan’s starting line-up.

The 29-year-old, who joined Billericay in the summer, added: “I want to get a few chances in the team and, if I do, I need to make sure I take them.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Billericay and there have been a lot of changes since I came in.

“Dean has come in as manager and although there was already a good work ethic, it has intensified.”
