FRAZER Shaw was overjoyed after the first goal of his career fired Concord Rangers into the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Shaw and Jack Midson were on target as the Beach Boys ran out 2-1 winners against Beaconsfield Town.

And Shaw was pleased to play a pivotal role in the victory at the Aspect Arena.

Shaw said: “That was my first career goal because I hadn’t scored before.

“It was good to get it in the FA Cup and to get the win - which is most important - and we can go onto the next round.

“When I saw Wally (Alex Wall) going down the line, I was always thinking I needed to try and get to the back post.

“I got there and when the ball came to me, it was on a plate.”

Midson broke the deadlock inside six minutes as the striker’s looped finish found the back of the net.

Beaconsfield levelled as Concord goalkeeper Sam Beasant failed to deal with a Mayowa Balogun cross seven minutes after the break, but Shaw slammed home a Wall cross for the winner soon after.

Shaw added: “There wasn’t much football being played in the game, but it’s not always going to be pretty when you’re going for the win.

“I thought the boys dug deep after conceding the equaliser.

“We showed great character to get back into the game.”
