SOUTHEND Manor were condemned to their seventh Essex Senior League defeat of the campaign as they were seen off by West Essex.

The visitors were 1-0 winners at Southchurch Park thanks to a goal from Cameron Gray early in the second half.

While Manor boss Adam Peek was not in the dugout for the clash, the hosts were also dealt a blow with Mo Kargbo, Lee Delf and Nathan Dewberry missing.

Manor midfielder Benn Smith lofted a drive over visiting custodian Jack Coker’s crossbar as the home side looked to grab a first half lead.

Coker then pulled off fine saves to deny Rhys Fatt, Robbie Norris and Charlie Barlow towards the end of the half.

Those saves proved crucial as West Essex grabbed what proved to be the only goal of the game eight minutes after the interval.

James Bromley’s corner eventually found Gray, who headed home in a congested penalty area.

Manor were unable to find a way past Coker as West Essex held on.
