MARK Bentley will rotate his squad when Canvey Island make the trip to managerless Braintree Town tonight.

The Iron parted company with boss Brad Quinton, who played with Bentley at Aveley during their playing days, following their National League defeat to Eastleigh at the weekend.

And Bentley, who claimed a point in his first game in charge of the Gulls on Saturday, is hoping to bring some fresh faces to the club before the Essex Senior Cup third round tie.

The new Canvey chief said: “It’s a chance for me to look at the players again.

“I will give a chance to the players that didn’t play against Tilbury and those that weren’t in the squad.

“I’m hoping I will get in a couple of new players as well, possibly in time for the game.”

And Bentley is eager to progress in the competition.

“There is a little bit less pressure on us, but it would be great to go on a cup run,” he added.

“It would be great to be the best team in Essex but, for me, it’s just another chance to have a look at the players.”
