RONNIE O’Sullivan scored a 147 as Southend’s Allan Taylor was walloped 4-0 in the second round of the English Open.
Taylor was hopeful of upsetting O’Sullivan in Crawley, telling the Echo on Tuesday he was determined to win the contest, but was no match for the multi ranking title winner.
Having scored 135 in the second frame tournament favourite O’Sullivan surpassed that effort with a majestic maximum to bring the contest to a close and send Taylor packing.
O'Sullivan also made a break of 135 in the second frame, potting 15 reds with 15 blacks and then clearing the colours to finish the match in style with a seemingly effortless 147.
"I felt sorry for Allan out there because you could see he was struggling, he's a lot better player than that," O'Sullivan said on Eurosport. "I think the conditions and just being on the TV table got to him a bit.
"I got a bit fortunate earlier on, I missed quite a few balls. We both did and my bad was a bit better than his bad."
Stuart Bingham was also a 4-0 winner this afternoon.
The Bowers Gifford player saw off Iranian Hossein Vafaei to advance into the third round.
Favourite Bingham looked in no danger of being knocked out and he will now play Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in the last 32 tomorrow.
