SOUTHEND Saxons got back to winning ways with a 41-12 victory against bottom of the table Fullerians.

Southend went into the game with five defeats from their first six outings.

And scrum half Harry Branch - who was among Saxons’ try scorers - was therefore delighted to pick up the win at Warners Bridge.

“The game at the weekend was great,” said Branch.

“All the lads really played well and we got the result we wanted.”

The victory pushed Southend up to ninth in the London One North standings.

And Branch felt it was vital Saxons came out on top.

“It was massive for us to win at the weekend,” said the scrum half.

“We have been looking really good in training and it was brilliant to see that the hard work has finally paid off.”

Fraser Banks and Ian Morrison both bagged two tries for Southend in the win while Nik Grier and Sam Hampson also touched down, along with Branch.

And Branch feels the win will have a big impact on Saxons.

“I’m sure after the weekend’s result everyone’s morale will be high,” said Branch.

“I’ll be looking to everyone to push on now and achieve the same result on the road at the weekend.

“I would also like to say thank you to everyone who came down to watch as it was great to see a big crowd.”
