SOUTHEND Saxons will be bidding for back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they head to Diss in London One North tomorrow.

Saxons saw off Fullerians 41-13 at Warners Bridge last weekend.

And skipper Ian Morrison is now keen to build on that result as ninth-placed Southend look to work their way up the standings.

“The win was a good boost to the team and showed our attacking capabilities,” said Morrison, who was among Saxons’ try scorers.

“It has given us something as a team to build on and add to in the coming weeks.

“But we are well aware it’s just one win and we are determined to build upon the good performance with more positive outcomes in this next block of fixtures.”

Diss are currently 12th in the 14 team table with one win from their first six games of the season.

But Morrison is expecting another tough test in Suffolk.

“We are expecting a big, solid team who will enjoy the game being in close,” said the skipper.

“It will be up to us to impose ourselves on them as we try to do in every game and play the brand of rugby that we enjoy.”

l In London One South tomorrow, eighth-placed Thurrock host struggling Chichester, who are currently second from bottom in the table.

In London Two North East, struggling Basildon will be looking for their first win of the season when they head to Harlow, who are just two places above them in the standings.

Sixth-placed South Woodham Ferrers are also on the road as they travel to seventh-placed Norwich.
