GREAT Wakering Rovers were condemned to their first home defeat of the campaign as Barking ran out comfortable winners.
Wakering went into the Isthmian North clash having won three and drawn one of their opening four home encounters back in the division following their Essex Senior League title win.
But goals from Ben O’Brien, Daniel Cheema and Eusebio De Silva consigned Garry Kimble’s side to a setback at Burroughs Park, leaving the Wakering chief disappointed.
Kimble said: “We were not good enough.
“Jake Gordon played OK, but the only two players that I would say came out with any credit were Scott Pethers and Simon Glover.
“Barking are quite a decent side, but we weren’t at the races from the off.
“I thought we had turned a corner after the Essex Senior Cup win over Aveley, but we were poor and the way we lost was the worst thing.
“We conceded very poor goals and we don’t want to be dragged into a relegation dogfight, but we know it’s a very hard league.”
Great Wakering Rovers: Turipa, Ring, Skelton, Pethers, Glover, Harris (Folkes 75), Gordon, Cox (Makhendi 65), Vyse, Bowers, Johnson (Benjamin 63)
