ADAM Peek is hoping his Southend Manor side will cause an Essex Senior Cup upset tonight - just days before his wedding.

Manor welcome Isthmian North outfit Grays Athletic for a third round tie this evening.

And Peek is keen to start his celebrations early with a shock success at Southchurch Park.

The Southend Manor boss said: “It’s these types of games where you have no pressure.

“We will be the underdogs and they are performing quite well at the moment, whereas we have had a difficult period.

“It’s an exciting game and we will be relaxed while playing with freedom.

“It will be good and it will make a change from having pressure to win points.

“We are looking forward to the game and it’s an opportunity for my players because they will want to try and prove they can play one level above the Essex Senior League.

“I will miss the next four games after tonight’s tie because I am away for three weeks.

“I’m getting married in Chelmsford on Friday and then we’re going to Thailand for our honeymoon on Sunday.”

Essex Senior League neighbours Hullbridge Sports pulled off an upset of their own eight days ago as they saw off Isthmian North side Witham Town in the Essex Senior Cup.

And Peek is hoping his side will join Darren Manning’s outfit in the hat for the next round of the competition.

“Hullbridge beat Witham quite convincingly last week and we all know that football is a funny game where anything can happen,” added Peek.

“We don’t know what kind of team Grays will be bringing for the game, but I’m taking it as they will put out a strong side.

“But there is not a lot between the Essex Senior League and Isthmian North and if we are clinical in the final third then I think we stand a good chance of getting a positive result.

“We will play without restraints and we will be looking to win the game.

“We’re certainly not going into the game looking to just make up the numbers.

“We want to get through to the next round of the Essex Senior Cup.”

And Peek, who admitted three players could make their debuts after joining the club, is looking to extend Southend Manor’s fine cup form.

“Our cup form has been pretty good,” he confirmed.

“We have got through two rounds of this competition and two rounds of the FA Vase.”
