ROSS Lafayette is loving life at Billericay Town.

Lafayette joined the National League South table-toppers from Sutton United last month.

And Lafayette, who travels to training and matches with team-mates Jake Howells and Adam Cunnington from his Rickmansworth base, is eager to help Billericay win back-to-back promotions.

“I’m absolutely loving it at the club, to be honest,” said the striker.

“It’s been refreshing and I feel rejuvenated because I think I needed a change of scenery.

“I needed to go somewhere that I was wanted and that helps a lot as a player.

“The boys have been awesome and they welcomed me straightaway.

“It obviously helps coming into a winning side as well.

“I was fortunate to come into a team that is fighting at the top of the league and we need to keep the momentum we have at the moment because we know that no-one wins the league now.

“If we can get a little run going and put some points between us and the chasing pack, that will bode well.”

Lafayette bagged the winner as Billericay came from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over East Thurrock United on Tuesday night.

And, having also got on the scoresheet in the draw with Dulwich Hamlet, Lafayette was pleased to score in consecutive matches.

Lafayette, who signed from National League side Sutton United, added: “It’s obviously good to get off to a good start when you come to a new club.

“Thankfully, I have done that and it’s a case of needing to kick on now.

“I give myself personal targets, so I’ve got to keep ticking the games off and getting the goals.

“Getting three points is the most important thing and hopefully we will keep winning games.”

Billericay will make the trip to face Chesterfield in the first round of the FA Cup in nine days.

But Lafayette is only focused on facing Torquay United at Plainmoor this weekend.

He confirmed: “We can’t even think about the Chesterfield game because the league is our bread and butter.

“Torquay is a massive game for us. If we can go down there and put in a great performance, then hopefully we will come away with a good result.

“That is the minimum but we are obviously going there looking to win three points because then we can carry that confidence into the next game.”
