SOUTHEND Saxons will be aiming for a third win in succession when they host Sudbury tomorrow.

Southend have triumphed in their last two London One North outings to work their way up to eighth in the standings.

And Saxons’ Nik Grier is keen to keep the good run going.

“We’ve come close to winning a few games but in the last two weeks we’ve started to put it all together and have started to perform nearer to our potential and it’s got us two bonus point wins but now we want three,” said Grier.

“We’ve always had the right attitude but we’ve let ourselves down on the pitch in a few instances.

“But the squad is always up for it and you can never fault the attitude or desire of every single player.”

Southend won 52-10 at Diss last weekend to end a run of 12 successive defeats on the road.

But Grier expects Sudbury - who sit 11th in the standings - to be tough opposition at Warners Bridge tomorrow.

“Sudbury will be a very well drilled side,” said Grier, who lined up at hooker for Saxons last weekend.

“Ben Scully, their head coach, has done an awesome job there and has got them playing some good rugby.

“From what I remember of them last season their backs are very dangerous and if we are not 100 per cent at our best they will cause damage.”

However, Sudbury will be heading into the encounter on the back of four successive defeats.
