ECHOSPORT talks to Barnsley fan Carlo van de Watering ahead of tomorrow’s game.

What have you made of the season so far?

“We’ve started well until a few weeks ago when we incurred two losses on the bounce.

“The players and management team promised a reaction and while the performance wasn’t great we won at home to Bristol Rovers.

“At times the football is breathtaking but up to now we’re a little inconsistent.”

What are the hopes for the rest of the season?

“The board and the fans expect promotion.

“After a very disappointing 2017/2018 season the appointment of German head coach Daniel Stendel was made to fit the attacking style the board feels fits our team the best.

“It is felt that we have the squad and qualities to go straight back to the Championship.”

Has the team changed much since being in the Championship last season?

“No, apart from midfielder Kenny Dougall, who is injured, and attacking midfielder Mike Bāhre this is the same squad as last season.”

How has League One differed to the Championship?

“We’re seeing far more opportunities to score.

“In the Championship goalscoring opportunities were, at times, rare. This season we’re among the top teams for attempts at goal.”

Who would you say is the dangerman?

“Alex Mowatt, in midfield, is showing us why we bought him from Leeds 18 months ago. He is combative, quick and a good tackler with a real eye for goal.

“Brad Potts seems a different player from last season.

“In a 4-4-2 formation with Potts on the wing we’ve played some of our best football so far. He’s strong on the ball and has a real eye for goal.

“Kieffer Moore cannot be discounted either. The 6’7” tall striker is always a problem for the opposition.

“But, at times, the lack of a strike partner and/or the formation has seen him isolated with no real opportunity to score.”

What’s the team news?

“Kenny Dougall is out injured. Cauley Woodrow has yet to make his debut due to a muscle injury.”

Predicted line-up: Davies, Cavare, Lindsay, Pinnock, Pinilos, Moncur, Mowatt, McGeehan, Potts, Bāhre, Moore
