ROCHFORD Hundred surged seven points clear at the top of the London One North standings with a 29-10 win against promotion rivals North Walsham.

The victory extended Rochford’s unbeaten start to the season to nine games.

And winger Norbertas Radzevicius - who scored a try on his return from a hamstring injury - felt Saturday’s clash at Magnolia Road was their most difficult match of the season so far.

“Saturday’s game was definitely the toughest yet and that’s going by everyone,” said Radzevicius.

“We were caught out from the start, which made it a little difficult from the first whistle.

“As a team we weren’t switched on and ready as we normally are and should be every week.

“We had a few niggles and people who had been being ill during the week, which didn’t help and it clearly showed that as Walsham brought their A game against us but we still got the win.”

Radzevicius was also happy to help make that happen with his ninth try of the season.

And he was delighted to be back in action again.

“Being back playing after nearly missing out on a month of rugby through injury was great and scoring again topped it off,” said Radzevicius.

“It’s always great to get on the scoresheet, especially in games like this which are crucial for us to win.”

Radzevicius’ try put Rochford 5-0 up at half-time but North Walsham hit back to take the lead at the start of the second period with a converted try.

However, Rochford replied with Adam Ferrier scoring two tries, while skipper Harry Hudson also touched down.

But Radzevicius feels Rochford are now there to be shot at.

“I think we are classed as the prey that everyone wants to catch,” said the winger.

“Our focus and goal is to go unbeaten again and get promotion and at the end of the day, our job is to go out and win no matter what. After this Saturday’s performance, we definitely know what we need to work on to not be put in the same situation again.”

Table-topping Rochford head to 10th placed Luton next time out, a week on Saturday.
