Harry Bunn wants Saturday’s clash with Crawley Town to be the start of an exciting FA Cup run for Southend United.

The Shrimpers head into the first round clash at Roots Hall depleted by a number of serious injuries.

But Bunn believes a cup run would be a big boost for Blues.

“We have to put the injuries to the back of our mind, I love the FA Cup and it would be great to go as far as we could because I think it picks everyone up,” said Bunn.

“When I was at Huddersfield we got to the fifth round and I scored at Manchester City which was great for me.

“But I do believe a cup run can lift morale and give you some momentum so that it actually helps you in the League.

“Saturday is a good chance for us to get through too.”

Blues will also be looking to bounce back from Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Barnsley.

But Bunn too plenty of positives from the setback.

"We've gone away to one of the best teams in the League and more than matched them," said the winger, who is on loan from Bury.

"We had chances but needed to be more ruthless, especially me.

"I should have scored at least one."
