SOUTHEND United boss Chris Powell is determined to end the Shrimpers’ FA Cup frustration at Crawley Town tonight.
Blues have not advanced past the first round of the competition since 2013.
And Powell is keen for the wretched record to end with a win in this evening’s first round replay.
“The games are coming thick and fast but this is another important one because we want a cup run,” said Powell.
“I know it’s been a while since the club had one so it would be good if we could end that.
“We should have got the job done in the first game with Crawley but we have another chance and we need to take it.”
The winners of tonight’s tie will pick up £36,000 in prize money and host Barnsley in the next round.
