SOUTHEND United boss Chris Powell wants Stephen McLaughlin’s impressive display at Crawley Town to be a sign of things to come.
McLaughlin – who has struggled to hit top form this season – was in fine form during the 6-2 victory and completed the scoring with an excellent effort.
And Powell is hopeful the performance will boost McLaughlin’s confidence.
“We all know what Macca is like and I’m really pleased he got his goal at the end because he deserved it,” said Powell.
“He’s a good player and a confidence player.
“He wants to do well for the team and I’m pleased he capped it off with his goal.
“Hopefully it will give him confidence now and the same goes for us as a team.”
