SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell is still waiting to discover the seriousness of Jason Demetriou's knee injury.

The Shrimpers right-back was taken off after just 15 minutes against Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night.

But Powell has yet to receive the results of a scan on Demetriou's knee.

"He’s been scanned today but I really don’t know what to say because we haven't got the results yet," said the Blues boss.

"It’s on the knee he’s had an issue with a while back but everyone has seen he’s been fighting fit both this season and last for us and for his country.

"He came off straight away which is good and didn’t do any more damage but who knows what the scan will show.

"I’m loathed to say because I’ve guessed wrong with every single one so we’ll have to wait and see."

Powell added Demetriou is unlikely to figure in the FA Cup against Barnsley on Saturday.
