JESSICA Judd has been named in Great Britain’s 40-strong European Cross Country Championships team.

British Athletics announced the squad for the 25th edition of the event - which will take place in Tilburg, Netherlands, on Sunday December 9 - yesterday.

Four-time European Cross Country Championships gold medallist Judd will lead the defending senior mixed relay team, where she is set to be joined by Alex Bell, Phil Sesemann and Jamie Williamson.

Rob Denmark, who hails from south Essex, is the British Athletics team leader.

And he believes Great Britain boast a strong squad for the competition.

“Following on from such competitive trials at the weekend in Liverpool, we are able to select an incredibly strong team to travel out to Tilburg in early December,” said Denmark.

“We have been fortunate enough to enjoy a great deal of success at these championships in recent years.

“I’m hoping that this year we will continue to challenge for individual and team medals.”

The British team has topped the medal table in 11 of the previous 12 championships.
