ECHOSPORT talks to Barnsley fan Daniel Dowle ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup clash at Roots Hall.

What have you made of the season so far?

“I’m more than happy with how the season is going. In the summer we were presented with a new manager who brought with him a different way of playing and the players have adapted well to it. We’ve had a few great results and performances so far, and the football we’re playing has been brilliant to watch at times.

“There has been some poor results and performances, but for the most part I can’t complain.”

What’s the main aim for Barnsley this season?

“Promotion is the aim but we know it’s not going to be easy.

“There are a few teams who will fancy their chances at getting into the top six and eventually achieving promotion to the Championship.

“But hopefully we can be one of those come the end of the season.”

How important is a cup run then?

“Cup runs can work wonders for a team and our run in the Football League Trophy in the 2015/16 season did so much for both the club and the town.

“It lifted the spirits when we were in and around the relegation zone and a few months later we were celebrating our second win at Wembley in as many months and departing League One for the Championship.

“This time around though I think we’d be better off without an extended cup run, allowing us to solely focus on returning to the second flight.

“As fans, we love getting a big club down to Oakwell or going away to one of the Premier League’s finest, but it wouldn’t bother me too much if that’s not the case this season.”

Who would you say is Barnsley’s dangerman?

“That title has to go to Kieffer Moore, our leading goalscorer.

“He’s scored 11 in the league so far and he’s a real handful for defenders.

“He scored a brace midweek at Sunderland so hopefully for us his confidence will be quite high.”

What’s the team news?

“Kenny Dougall is out injured and he’s been a huge loss for us, unfortunately for us he’s going to be missing until the new year.

“Andreas Winkler (the assistant manager) has said that Zeki Fryers should be OK for the match. He was subbed off on Tuesday.”

Predicted starting line-up: Davies, Cavare, Pinnock, Lindsay, Fryers, Potts, McGeehan, Mowatt, Moncur, Woodrow, Moore
