BILLERICAY Town boss Dean Brennan feels Saffron Walden Town will go into tonight’s Essex Senior Cup clash with nothing to lose.

Town, who suffered their first home defeat in the National League South as Oxford City came out on top on Saturday, will make the trip to Saffron Walden with a place in the quarter-finals of the competition up for grabs.

But Saffron Walden have enjoyed a fine start to the season themselves, sitting fourth in the Essex Senior League standings, and Brennan insisted Billericay must go into the clash with the right mentality if they want to progress.

Brennan said: “Saffron Walden have nothing to lose.

“It’s up to us to perform and get through to the next round of the Essex Senior Cup.

“We want to win our games, no matter what competition we’re playing in, and it will be no different tonight.”

Billericay, who are the Essex Senior Cup holders after beating Chelmsford City in the final last term, secured their place in the fourth round after overcoming National League South rivals Concord Rangers.

And with a congested festive period on the horizon, Brennan is likely to make a number of changes to his starting line-up.
