IAN Morrison insists Southend Saxons are still buzzing ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Luton at Warners Bridge.

Southend, who sit ninth in the London One North standings, head into the clash on the back of two successive defeats.

But Saxons skipper Morrison feels spirits are still high as the side seek a return to winning ways.

“There is a big buzz around training still,” said Morrison.

“Both Saxon and prior squads are keen to get ourselves back on track and produce an exciting performance so we’re looking forward to Saturday.”

Southend had secured four victories in a row before suffering the back-to-back defeats.

Last time out, Southend were beaten 57-7 at high-flying North Walsham.

But Morrison feels Southend would have learnt from that setback.

“The game was a tough lesson against a very well drilled side who are up towards the top of the table,” said Morrison.

“We showed some good character towards the end but with so many changes it was a huge task for us.

“But, at the same time, it’s one which we will learn from and improve upon this week.”

Luton head into the clash sitting 11th in the standings, 12 points behind Southend.

But Morrison is still expecting a tough contest.

“We are expecting a tough start to the game,” said Morrison.

“We will take nothing for granted.”

The game will also see Saxons looking to follow in the footsteps of Southend United, who beat Luton Town on Wednesday night.
