DEAN Brennan believes Billericay Town are on the right track after securing two consecutive wins in a turbulent week.

Following the departures of a number of high-profile stars, including Jake Robinson, some supporters were fearing the club would go on a downward spiral.

But, since Robinson’s move to National League side Maidstone United to link-up with former Town boss Harry Wheeler, Billericay have picked up two consecutive victories.

Billericay boss Brennan said: “We made the decision to sell Jake because we know what we have in our group.

“The squad needs to be smaller because we want 19 players and a tight-knit group, which helps you to win at places like Eastbourne Borough and Bath City.

“There was a lot of crazy talk and headlines after some of the departures last week, but I am pleased with how the club has handled the situation.

“We all believe in each other and the positivity around the football club in the last few days has been fantastic.

“I have no doubts in the football club whatsoever because I believe in the owner (Glenn Tamplin) and players.”

Billericay followed up their weekend win at Eastbourne Borough by coming from behind to seal a 2-1 triumph over Bath City.

Ross Stearn gave Bath an 11th minute lead by poking home, but Town were back on level terms just three minutes later as Moses Emmanuel applied the finishing touches to a fine move.

Callum Kennedy then struck the post with a sweetly-struck free-kick, while Bath’s Joe Raynes rattled the crossbar a minute later.

Sam Deering scored what proved to be the winner less than 20 minutes from time as the skipper’s cross evaded everyone and found the back of the net.

And Brennan felt his side were fully deserving of the three points.

“We showed great character to come from behind,” said the Town chief.

“They had a strong spell, but we stayed in the game.

“When we got back in the dressing room at half-time, I was given the stats and we had as many chances as them and then we defended really well in the second half.

“We had the three best chances in the game and Moses scored one of them after a lovely team move.

“I thought we nullified them and were a goal better than them.

“We showed class, quality and tactical grit to win the game.

“It is testament to how well we defended that Jules (Alan Julian) only had to make one save in the whole match.”
