SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell has just ‘11 or 12’ fully fit first team players for Saturday’s clash with Accrington Stanley.

Michael Turner and Harry Bunn both picked up injuries during the 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth last weekend.

And Powell is now incredibly short of options for Saturday's clash at Roots Hall.

“We will be without one or two more players after the Portsmouth game and we’re down to 11 or 12 first team players now,” said Powell.

“We will have a number of youngsters in the squad but the players have trained brilliantly.

“It’s been a tough time and as a manager you know you get the criticism, but that’s fine. I want us to come through this together and it will be good when we get to the other side.”

Powell said Turner and Bunn have just a 40 per cent chance of being fit for Saturday's game.

But the Blues boss will definitely be without Ben Coker, Tom Hopper, Rob Kiernan, Jason Demetriou, Sam Barratt, Harry Lennon, Harry Kyprianou and Lewis Gard.

However, goalkeeper Ted Smith is close to making a return from a leg injury.
