PAUL Harrison is the latest Southend United fan to have his say on the latest happenings at Roots Hall.

So, here we are, nearly half way through the season and we appear to have more injuries than points collected in November, previously a month we excelled in.

Going backwards in the League, progressing in the Checkatrade Trophy, being outplayed in the League Cup and despite the best run in the FA Cup for some five years, being beaten at home by a team we could have beat, in the second round.

We are facing a huge game at home this Saturday, against Accrington, the only team below us in the form table, in what really is a six pointer in my opinion for many reasons.

If we lose, I really do fear for where this leaves us, especially in terms of confidence on the terraces.

Chris Powell, whilst a hero from his playing days, is facing a critical few weeks in his tenure at the Hall.

I am willing him on. I am not a fan that turns on the managers and I really want him to succeed to protect his legacy within the club.

However, injuries to one side, I have questioned some of the recent decisions made.

Most notable was Taylor Moore not starting in the FA Cup game against Barnsley.

He is our best defender this season and a victory could have instilled confidence, generated a third round tie and got some much needed additional revenue into the coffers for the January transfer window.

Picking Yearwood when he was clearly unfit, McLaughlin not keeping his place after the Crawley game.

I felt there have been too many changes, when not needed, from game to game, something a certain previous manager was accused of.

Hendrie being dropped for not being able to play two games on the trot, for tiredness.

The changes pile up and are constant.

Regarding his signings, I have been impressed with a number of them, Hopper was a superb capture and he really is a loss for us.

His work rate, team work and eye for goal, would be a miss for any manager and team.

I see a good player in Lennon, but his luck with injuries have been unbelievable.

I like Dieng, also Hyam and Mantom and Bunn has shown promise, but fleetingly.

All of this adds to further confusion in respect of some of the performances we have seen this season.

I do see a lot of what said certain previous manager was accused of, being outplayed again in front of our eyes, the utilisation of Cox for example and the one man up top, at home.

I also feel we are too nervous all the time from set pieces.

I am not calling for the head of Powell, but I think that we are only a few games and performances from the terraces turning on him, which would be a huge shame.

For me, he needs to look at what he has and keep faith with a starting XI, get some continuity.

Bring on Saturday, a win and we look forward, a defeat and we will start to look down.

And looking down is a very difficult mind set to change - it could lead to an even darker December.
